So I want to get a custom boss jack but don't want to use any of the standard handle materials. If I supplied busse with antlers from a whitetail could they make scales with them? Has anyone done this or heard of this?

I think Garth said something like they didn't do that because they wouldn't be able to guarantee the scales under their warranty.

This question has come up several times before quite recently. Busse won't re-handle a knife with user supplied materials. They keep a lot of material on hand so if you tell them what you want, likely they can accommodate your request. Here are a couple quotes regarding this very subject from this thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...om-shop-use-customer-supplied-handle-material

Not trying to rain on your parade, just passing on this info. Again....

We cannot use materials supplied by anyone else because then we will not be able to cover it under our lifetime warrantee.

Natural materials are difficult to work with and I generally like to hand pic materials as I have used enough to know where problems will be. I try to keep a large supply on hand whenever possible. At least if a piece break when working on the handle it is us that is out the material cost and not the customer.

I see why you would want to. You shot the deer? You can do it yourself or a service provider. I am sure the rest of the knife will be covered.
