Having a hard time deciding which handle to get for TGLB competition finish. Can I get some help? Lol

My next TGLB will be a competition finish with a black G10 handle. A classic combination. But this is very subjective and only my opinion.

I like black canvas and black paper the best. Better grip , feel , lighter and cost less than g10

I was thinking tan canvas micarta but seems like theres variations in color and pattern

Get whichever appeals to you most.

Personally though I like black canvas cause it has more of a greenish/grey drab tone to it rather than straight up black. I also like black/tan G10 and hope to get a 2nd TGLB with that color handle and a Comp finish.

There can be slight color differences from sheet to sheet with micarta...it is the nature of the materials. The pattern differences might be hand shaped vs. machine cut...?

Here's a fairly crappy pic (sorry, getting used to a new pocket camera!) of 4 TLGB's, all Competition finished. From the top, TLGB's 1 & 3 have machine cut micarta handles, and 2 & 4 are hand shaped. These hand shaped will be smoother, still plenty grippy, but not quite as much as machine cut...They do look better though. ;) I'm a fan of both, prefer hand shaped for bare hands, machine cut for gloves...and since (to me) these really do qualify as working knives as they aren't fancy or "pretty" compared to full satin, I only ordered canvas micarta on mine. But...I am leaning towards a second order for one with black paper micarta, and a "Daryl" knife (black & tan G-10/CF TLGB) for my collection.

Hope this helps ya! :)

I like black canvas and tiger hide :). I especially like when black canvas gets darkened over time and use. Looks really cool and feels good in hand. But that's just my opinion.

It was a general statement. The black canvas on busse site looks like a light tan but your pics they are definitely black.

On the site they do indeed look tan. Mine came about the same color as jaxx, maybe a touch more green.

Exactly.

While Micarta, is most definitely not a natural material, it feels much more so than G-10. Unless I'm wearing gloves, I'll reach for a Micarta handled blade over the same G-10 handled blade 10 times out of 10.

I'm also a big fan of handshaped Micarta.

The tan and black G-10 matches up really well with the CF in my opinion. If you want the handle to really stand out go for the blue and black or the orange and black.
