Thanks into welcoming me into this group!
Although my day to day activities involve tech (IoT and FinTech), last year I became fascinated by Damascus handmade Japanese knives and decided to open a side business - Japana.uk with two of my colleagues. The aim is to promote this amazing Japanese craftsmanship of blademaking and showcase the most talented blacksmiths.
We are finding it difficult to secure more direct partnerships. We need contact to Anryu Katsushige and Yu Kurosaki and other, less known blacksmiths. We are looking for an agent or representative in Japan. Does anyone of you know anyone or would like to help us? :)

Arigatou!

Hi Kama,

I was recently in Japan, and made a side trip to Miki, a town in Hyogo prefecture, about half an hour away from Kobe City.
Miki is known as the blacksmith village, but alas, I was not able to experience all they had to offer as my visit coincided with Typhoon Malakas.
I picked up 2 Higonokami knives made by Motosuke Nagao- the only extant Higonokami maker, from a shop in Miki. They have an online catalog in English that you can check out http://fugaku-japan.com/.

I know that Miki has a lot of blacksmiths making all sorts of goodies from knives to garden tools etc.
I believe it is overlooked in favour of Seki City to the north as that is where the cutlery industry in Japan is best represented.

Not much help, I know, but its what I have.

Check out mikisyo.sakura.ne.jp too.
Also based in Miki, they forge cutlery and related tools.

Good luck.
