I've been lurking for years. I finally read that post that said stop doing that and post so I have a question. I was browsing knives and I think I came across a pic of the most gorgeous knife I have ever seen. It was handmade by someone I am pretty sure on this forum.

It was a Kukri but unlike any I had ever seen. Dark blade with deep black or blue smooth polished grips. Maybe a layer or two on the scales. Like Onxy and dark mirrors. It was both ancient looking and futuristic if that makes sense. If they used Kukris in TRON, it would look like this guys knife. I don;t remeber the name of the maker, George or Dan or something like that. But I figure some one here has to remember that knife. He had made at least a few like that. Just otherworldly and beautiful.

Anyone know the knife or maker I am trying to find?

thanks

If it happened to look like the one below, then Jason Knight is the maker. There were a limited number made as part of the Knight/Paranee project. The actual knife in the photo is a one of a kind made as a result o the project and sold auction style a few years ago at Blade.

That's a gorgeous blade but not even close to what I was talking about. Forget the ancient part and think modern sci-fi TRON black mirror polish obsidian and chrome. Dark and shiny with almost electric spectral highlights.

Also is there another site similar in scope and stature to "blade forums", a really big one where custom knife makers post their pics. I was thinking maybe it was on a different forum. But when I looked this is the granddaddy of all Knife forums and I'm pretty sure it was here but I saw the knife.

i almost choked on my beverage when i read " not even close". that looks to be a damascus integral ( one piece) kukri with a key hole handle which is extremely difficult to do as well as the huge fuller. i cannot imagine anything that would out class it :)

I'm not sure if that this qualifies as a 'khukri', yet it may be similar to your descriptions.

Do the names, Claudio Sobral, Jason Knight or Adam DesRosiers ring a bell??

Does this one by Claudio Sobral hit the mark??

By "close", I only meant as far as appearance. I make no stands on the quality of either knives. It was an amazing knife as well as the ones Coop posted. They just were not the ones I was looking for in this post. That being said, I'm glad to have discovered them here.

It's coldSteelBurns with the win!!! That is indeed the knife maker I was looking for. Thank you very much.

Those de Braga are absolutely amazing. Ornamentation is out of this world. Again, an otherworldly quality for the knives. It's amazing what I see around here.

As far as the Kukri goes, now that the pictures there and you know what knives I was talking about, do you see what I mean by dark and black but not tactical? The knives by Sobral just seem to really resonate with me on a minimalist level. He lets the curves and lines and bevels of the knife speak for themselves without distraction and brings a nice contrast by providing some exquisite detail on the scabbards.
