I've got a couple of Viper 3s that have taken a beating getting thrown around, and I've thrown a few other handmade knives because I couldn't help myself.:o

But I refrain for the most part these days from throwing anything not made for such use.:) Hey, we all get wiser with age, right?

I love throwing knives and axes, and I also love handmade knives. So... I was hoping some of you might have some photos to share of handmade throwing knives which you either collect or use.

Mr. Branton- Please indulge!

Here are a few

My pixels aren't that great, hardly even mega, but here's some photos just for fun!

First up is a knife design patented by Parksville, Vancouver Island's own Harald Moeller. I do believe that this is the most copied knife of all time!
Nothing I've tried is better than these 440c, 7mm thick beauties. This is the smallest of the throwers that Harald makes, and one day I hope to try out his full sized version. There is plenty of weight, and as you can see, they've been well used:thumbup:

This next knife is a thrower I designed on paper, and it was made from 5.5mm 5160 by Seth Burton, of Saltspring Island, (www.cosmoknives.com). It has an overall length of 26cm and has a sharp double edge. I wanted a knife that was a 'real' knife, but one that could be thrown too. If I knew then, what I know now, I would have designed this knife differently. But it's all part of the learning process, and I like the knife anyway. The black is bbq paint, which I must say is tough, awesome stuff.

Anyone else out there? Surely there are a few makers who like to throw knives who've made one or two for their own personal use. I'd love to see those, if they exist:)

Bobby, that #9 has my undivided attention!! How did Hanna treat y'all down in Awendaw? My niece on Wadmalaw stayed in the house with the dogs but didn't have any unexpected damage.

17 and 18 are super cool. I first checked out the Branton site a couple of years ago(?). Anyway, I always wanted to acquire one or two, but I'm still paying off the Moellers!

Someday the day will come, though. As far as I know, there are no other makers who specialize with the same level of passion for throwing knives, in knives made for throwing, as B. Branton does. That makes him the King of the handmade throwing knife niche. Which means that I need to have at least one knife he made at some point down the road.

Any more photos out there?
