okay after my question a couple of weeks ago the consensus seemed to be that everyone liked handrubbed finnishes so here is my attempt it is a forged bladed of 1084 4.5" long with brass hardware and a ironwood handle. Let me know what ya think...Erik

The knife looks excellent. The picture doesn't really show very well the type of finish wheather it is hand rubbed or otherwise. At least I can't tell.

Sure i buy a new camera and y'all start hacking on my photo skills. Just kidding i am working on it just gotta figure out how to work the dang thing....Erik

Yeah, the focus looks off a bit, like maybe it's right at the butt end of the knife. Did you use the macro setting on it? And are you using a Tripod, probably dumb questions I know, but you never know.
The knife looks real good though, nice lines, handle looks like it'd nestle right down in your hand.

Yeah i finally figured out that the little green box that comes up on the screen is the focus point and found the macro setting it is a little p on the dial and i do have a tripod now you want me to use it?

Yeah, I'd use it :D

The macro setting is usually like a flower, or a magnifying glass or something, the P is usually program, which would be just basic normal picture taking. Of course check your manual for that type stuff. And sorry if your kidding and I'm misssing it.

Incidentally, my wife looked at your knife and tells me, see thats what you should have done with that little bird and trout handle!

thanks syn no i wasn't kidding the p i believee on the camera is portrait according to a camera geek buddy of mine. Tell your wife i would like to take credit for the handle but it is a copy of a mike williams/jerry fisk/terry primos/jim walker i looked at all of them fellas handles and even got to play with a couple of knives and that is the handle for a hunter that jumped out at me.....Erik

Yeah, I waffled back and forth on several different styles myself, and thats closer to what I should have done, I went with more of a real smoothed out loveless style handle, looks ok, feels ok, but just isn't quite right, ahh well.
Yeah, I'm sort of a camera geek myself. 15 years selling them, and working in photo stores and labs, about the same as a photographer in one capacity or another. I still work in the industry, just now I fix the machines that make the pictures. Anyhow, if you have any questions or anything, feel free to ask, but we've got some other folks, Coop for instance who are better qualified than I to answer most Knife photo questions. I did a fairly limited amount of stuff in the way of product shots. If you do some searches in the Knife makers forum, there have been some good threads on knife shooting, and picture setups.
