Hey folk's looking for a little help, I'm wanting to add a larger
user blade to my kit. The bolo style blade in a 10" length is my target. The 3 mentioned above are the finalists with the MM Survival
Bowie being in the lead. Searches have turned up positive comments
for the Livesay and Mineral Mtn. blades and resale qualms from Greco.

As this is an internet search and not a hands on deal I'm needing feed back from anyone who has hands on with thies blades. As to my use, most of the time it will be in my BOB with some weekend back packing trips.

I have owned knives by all 3 makers. I'd say that for a usable knife you couldn't go wrong with any of the choices. But.....All the ones I have had from these 3 makers needed a new edge. Get whichever one appeals to you and a new file. Apply a nice sharp edge and you will have a chopping monster. BTW I am not saying the makers send out dull knives. It has just been my experiance that the supplied edges needed some TLC.

I agree completely with Bill about needing a good file. I have never handled a MM so I can't say anything about them. The Wasp has an excellent handle and overall is the nicest one IMO. I found the Greco handles a bit squarish.

Thank's Bill and Fudo.

One more question, should I be concerned
with the thickness of each blade, ie: the MM is .25" where the Wasp is
.20" this is the main reason I'm leaning towards the MM. Right/wrong?

Who's sheath system would you say is of better design/quality?

Thanks again.

I think that the Wasp is much more than sufficient to any task within it's design limits. Unless you have the arm and shoulder strength of a mountain gorilla, there is no need to worry.
I think that Newt makes some of the best sheaths made by anybody.
