handy knife storage

any ideas for storing knives in shelves ? My shelves are 12" apart, and I could get 2 or 3 levels of knives and sheaths on each, yet cant figure out how to do it. would like something like an easily removable box with knives on top and sheaths on bottom, kinda like shoe boxes, and made so I could stack them,. with several knives in each box

Maybe a smaller scale version of this? There are a variety of cases made specifically for knives, or you could use handgun magazine storage cases..

You might find some fishing tackle boxes that would maximize your storage capacity. Many of them have adjustable compartments.
