First, I wanna say sorry for posting this in general discussion (I couldn't find sharpener discussion). Alright so I am at basically zero for sharpeners. By that I mean all I have is a Smith Pocket Pal, which I heard is not good wall the carbide puller at least. So I need a product or method (under $70) to sharpen. It seems a lot of people use the Spyderco Sharp Maker. Since carbide pulls metal off the blade I've been eyeballing a cheap sharpener called HANDY SHARPENER. It looks like it would work from several videos I've seen. Even though it's advertised by a dude with a musky mustache it looks worthy. So any thought or personal experience. Thank You:thumbup:

Sharpmaker with the budget you have. I'm terrible freehand and never could get my knives as sharp as I like. Now all my knives stay hair popping sharp and easy to maintain. Simple to use and has an idiot proof video to watch to get you going.

Another option is the DMT Aligner or DMT Magna Guide (pretty much same thing but uses DMT Diafolds) if you ever wanted the option to experiment with free hand sharpening they give you that option.

I picked up the Aligner Deluxe to reprofile and free hand with and am quite happy. The results I get with using the aligner are quite good but I am usually able to take it up another small notch by free hand. Not bad considering I have a lot more experience free hand sharpening and the Aligner still feels foreign to me.
