So a few weeks ago, I was able to do a little trout fishing. Full disclosure: my company has several properties around the state. This location has a stream on it that we have stocked when we have guest coming in. The fish were put in earlier that week. So, why is that important...
The Handyman helped me clean around 120 trout. How did it perform you ask. Beautifully of course. It handled cutting through the backbone with ease. It was able to slice up the belly to open the trout up to easily remove the innards.

Honestly, the only concern I had was with the handle. I knew I would be cleaning a mess of fish. How would the handle perform with all the blood and guts it would be exposed to during the day. It was fantastic. Not once did it slip, yeah I washed it off when it needed to be but it still didn't slip. Not once did I have hand fatigue. Not once did I experience a hot spot.

A coworker came in the room, looked at the bloody board and then saw the knife. He said, hey what's that. I said, come on in and see how you like it. He cleaned five fish, put it down and said "Damn bro, that blade is out of this world. Not only does it feel great, it is laser sharp and is a beautiful knife. Whoever made that knew what they were doing." I completely agree.

Andy, the Handyman works. The design is awesome. The blending of A2 with Bocote and micarta is sublime. But what makes me not want to put this knife down is the craftsmanship in the grind and the handle shape. Well done Andy.

Loving my Handyman!!

Preston

Hollar next time you need help with fishing. ;)

btw, we use Plant Bowen's firing range all the time.

Beautiful knife! Thanks for sharing. My handyman is a lot like it. Black bolster with box elder burl. It's my favorite knife right now!

Very nice handyman, and a great review. :) Thank you for taking the time to do a write up for us. I'm leaving in a few hours to hit a lake myself, I hope my trips as fun as what yours looked like. :D

Great review and beautiful knife. A handyman of that same configuration is a grail knife for me. I can't wait to get my hands on one.

Thanks for the great review and pics Preston. That's a beauty of a knife. I love the Bocote and OD combo.

Great review, I have one question. How does that lanyard smell?

Well, if he carries it on his hip, he'll likely be seen as a cat whisperer.

Seriously though, thanks for the review. It's likely the next model on my list.

Bud, all the plants have some kind of range. Glad we share our resources with the good guys.

 Nice looking Handyman!

It it a good looker for sure. I'd love to get a few more to match the combo.

Sure thing, black bolster with BEB - it would be a favorite of mine as well.

Thank you. I consider it a grail as well. My only A2 knife, so far.

Great review, I have one question. How does that lanyard smell?

Thanks. After washing it three times with Dawn, I finally got an old toothbrush with more detergent after it. But it did start to smell a little fishy.

Thanks for the great review and pics Preston. That's a beauty of a knife. I love the Bocote and OD combo.

Thanks Nathan. I love the combo also.

Great review!

Thank you sir.

No cats followed me home... that I know of. My pleasure. Andy did a great job designing this model.

Look forward to getting one some day.

It won't disappoint.

Thanks for the review Preston. That is a very handsome handle combo. The grind height and spalting on the blade are perfect in my opinion too.

My only comment about your in use shot is that I wouldn't want to be cutting in the direction of my other hand when both hands are covered with slippery fish slime. I am glad that you got the job done without any damage to your digits.

I look forward to hearing your ongoing thoughts on this knife. Thanks!

Phil

Yeah? That I didnt know that. Bowen has A LOT of property around it - the range is well built, kept in order, and pretty isolated. I greatly appreciate them allowing us use of it, but some of yall's 5.11 wearing security people are wrapped tighter than Dick's hat band. :D

Thanks Phil. The picture is a little misleading. The cut starts in the lower jaw hinge, but goes almost straight up instead of out toward my fingers. It's meant to separate the flap of tissue just behind the gills so you can remove the lower jaw , throat and innards all at once.
I knew there would be a comment about that pic. I'm surprised it took this long!

Man, love the review, and very glad you and your buddy liked using the knife!

Yes sir, they take their job pretty serious. There have been a few shooting champions who work at our sister company in Alabama.

Man, love the review, and very glad you and your buddy liked using the knife!

Thanks Andy, it's kinda hard not to love this knife.
