Like some other readers of this forum, I have accumulated more khukuris than will be immediately needed for gardening, camping, or defensive duty.

I don't have shelf space to use the khukuri stands that are sold by some firms, buy I do have a section of wall in my den that could hold my accumulation of khuks and other largish blades.

What is the best method you gentleman (and ladies) have found for wall mounting khuks?

I would especially like to display one or two
"naked," that is, not in their scabbards.

Mike I have some of mine hung in their scabbards from bent pieces of coathanger wire made to fit.
I make a circle of the wire on one end that will fit the screw size I am going to use for it then bend the wire 90* and then another 90* and at the end, bend it over on itself so that it won't be sharp and pointy on the end. Simply screw it onto what ever you want to hang it on and slip the loop of the frog over it.
You would of course need a heavier wire for the larger khukuris.

I have been thinking about using the mirror hanging devices with perhaps a metal spacer to keep it far enough away from the wall or board so the knife will be secure, but easily removable.
Those fancy little washers that adapt the angle on woodscrews to a flat surface will keep the metal tubing from digging into the surface you put it on.

One of these days I will finish a nicely figured board to hang on the wall with the rest of my khukuri's hung on it.

I don't think you want to hang them from the belt loop if you are just using a hook because the weight will eventually put a big dimple or even a tear in the leather.

Instead, make a miniature coathanger from 3/8" dowell rod and regular coat hanger wire. Drill a small hole in the ends of a 3" long dowel piece, insert the ends of the wire . Now you can mount the Khuk by pulling out one side of the "khuk hanger", passing the dowell through the belt loop and reinserting the wire into the end of the dowell. The khuk should hang properly, the "khuk hanger" should not even be visible and you won't damage the leather.

One of you guys should make these and sell them!

How about horizontal mounting a la' John Powell?

The ideas mentioned should all work great for new kukris and those with frogs, but the oldies are delicate and any direct weight will eventually tear leather.

I hang mine by wrapping a very fine black wire around the throat of the scabbard where it is hidden by the straps or frog or any metalwork. I then add a metal or nylon washer to the wire to relieve any direct pressure. The knives hang shoulder down, the tip is held up by a simple small nail and the knives are easy to take down and rehang.

Knives w/o scabbards are put on whatever flat surface I can find. Koras are a different story and hang vertically.

I will send some pix to Bill and maybe he can post them. It all sounds confusing, but it just takes a little time that is worth it.

Mike, if I could find a nice 1990 Daytona I would join the 'Goozie' club. As it is I am very happy with my Norton, Duck, Hawk and BMW.

I hung an AK and Bird & Trout from the shower curtain rod once, making a point about my g/f's display of her lacey things all over the bathroom...

Was about a week before I got close to her lacey things again. Tough lesson.

John and Uncle Bill,

THANKS!!!

That display couldn't be simpler, to make or move. A couple of hours this weekend, and I'll be set

I have a tendency to overengineer stuff, reckon that partially explains my attraction to the kothimodas.

Thanks again, the pictures made it all clear!
