I'm mating up a Hulks Bruk boys axe and a fleamarket find haft. This 24" haft is a mere wisp of a thing and that's likely how it came from the factory. The grain is perfectly vertical. It's been finely shaped, there is just the right place for your left hand. It's not perfect ,it has a small knot near the left thumb. It's like a small mole on a beautiful girl's face. The fawn's foot has pronounced flair, sort of reminds one of a girls hips. But the problem is , it's cut at a rakish angle. I don't want to cut a flat, nor beat on it . Any idea how to get the head on and off to get a fit with wrecking the fawns foot.

Even though the fawns foot isn't cut square like most of the modern ones are they drive on any way even though the blows are at an angle. I just hit it square so as to not damage the haft.

WOW, thanks !! I'll make one . The metal straps are the key. And the rounded striking block.
I ended up removing the rubber cushion that sat on the swell itself. It was absorbing enough energy to make it a detriment. I just keep it clean and it doesn't damage it at all. I mean to make a better one this summer. But then again I mean to do A LOT this summer! Haha. If you make your own rendition hopefully you'll share it with us??

So the tool is evolving and it sounds like you have some more ideas? I hope you keep us updated.
