I went out camping this weekend in a deep swamp. It's Been so dry the ground was hard so I got to stay in a spot I couldn't normally reach.
I strung my hammock and, with lots of time, played around with some steel.
It's a "hat sheath". It's a very old (late 1800s) style of sheath from Finnland. Hat sheaths were kind of like the universal sheaths of their day. I have a great book on puukkos and built a puukko and hat sheath based on historical examples.
