On Monday Hanna was admitted to Hope hospital for her every other week treatment of a high dosage of methotrexate. This is the treatment where she has to stay at the hospital for 3 - 4 days. This was her third round of this treatment, she will have one more round in two weeks. The next step is normal chemo, and steroids for two months (this is where she needs to have Becky give her insulin shots because it makes her blood sugar go very high.) After that, if all goes well, she will have another round of a lower dose of methotrexate, where she only needs to stay for the day she is treated. After those treatments, she will be on a maintenance schedule of chemo, where Becky will give it to her at home, and get checked at the hospital.
The doctor tried to talk to her about her nightmares, saying she is doing very well, and is handling the treatments perfectly, with good results, so she should not be worrying about dying, she will be fine. She basically tuned him out, so they are having Danielle talk to her, Hanna relates to her better. Danielle is a leukemia survivor who works with the children on arts and crafts. When she was 8, she was admitted to the hospital with the same symptoms Hanna had. Her case was so severe, they had told her parents she would not make it through the weekend, she is in her late 20`s now.
The hospital is having a Christmas party this Friday night at the high school near there for all the children and their families, so she is looking forward to that. Also, Danielle entered Hanna in a contest and they won a day at Key Lime Cove, which I think is a waterpark north of us, so they will be going there after the holidays.
All in all, everything seems to be going well, on December 9th Hanna will have been in remission for four months, she still has a long road ahead of her, but it looks very promising.
Thanks to all of you for your prayers and well wishes, sorry I was so long winded.
