Been using Fireclean to coat and protect my Hanshee as I've been leaving it in my trunk for the past few months.

Its been doing a pretty good job, no rust or weird stuff happening since I started using the stuff. In fact I think its helped removed or minimize some of the prior oxidation, rust, and other use blemishes.

Although contrary to some reviews, the stuff is very viscous but will still travel if left in place long enough. Still I like the idea of using one cleaning agent for both my guns and blades.

I know, just kidding. Thank you for sharing, loving all these tips posted here, certainly appreciate it.

Your welcome!

I used to use camellia oil and before that mineral oil, but either it's too delicate or goes rancid if stored in more higher temperatures for extended periods.

It is quite impressive, in the given conditions! What I'd fear, though, is shrunken wood, especially on full-tang blades, due to heat. Did you notice any around the buttcap?

No shrinkage yet

The existing crack came from moving from the humid Midwest back to drier California

We shall see!

My m43 has seen over 10 years of hard use and abuse and times of neglect...but is still going strong.

The Fireclean also did a good amount of touch up it along with a new convex edge from Creger Leatherworks!

Wow, didn't realize you were a 2004 member. Nice to see veterans sticking around!
