Don sent me some pics of the bowie he just finished for ME. A couple of weeks to have the sheath made, then I should get it! I can't find the words to say how much I like what I see ... :D

Congrats to you guys!

Wow!

That hamon kinda reminds me of a damascus pattern Fisk does once in a while... I forget what he calls it... but anyway, I think it looks fantastic. Gorgeous bowie.

You lucky dawg! Fabulous walnut and a funky hamon. Very cool indeed.

Dogtooth?

Thanks everyone for your kind words. flava I hope you like it.

I thought about doing a step by step pictorial but thought too late, I had most of it done:p I will do one sometime soon.

This one has a forged 9-3/4'' 1086m blade damascus fittings and black walnut handle with a gold pin and it's 14-3/4'' overall.

Thanks for showing it flava:D

Coop - I think he calls it Dog Star pattern? Might be a pic on his site somewhere...

That hamon has a feature that the Japanese connoseurs drool over. That shadow obove the white line of the hamon, it's called "Utsuri" by the Japanese, a highly sought after and desirable feature on blades. This is achieved when a certain precise temperature gradient is present at the time of the quench.

Niiiiiiiiiice:p :p Killer hamon. In a year or so I will have something like that of my one. I can hardly wait and I'm counting the seconds:D

JD I was wondering if someone would notice:) I didn't know what it was called but I sure do like this affect and been getting a few hamons like this lately.

These hamons are terribly addictive and very time consuming.

Marcel, I'm practising on these current bowies in preparation for yours:D

Thanks guys.

That blade is unreal and looks great with the MO walnut

One of your best, Don. Maybe THE best, but there've been so many sweet bowies, that I'd hate to have to pick just one. :)

Well, what I was going to say has already been covered. Basically that it reminded me of this one from Fisk, except I guess it was achieved using clay<?> instead of a file, and Flava, you lucky dog! The wolftooth pattern is great too but I think this one is a bit different. Wouldn't mind seeing one of these with some brass and sheephorn...:D

Edited to add: This is just my opinion of course, but this one is without a doubt Don's best work yet, that I've seen...

I'd trade Meg one of my kidneys for this one but he'd have to throw in one of those complete trilobytes...:D
