It is always nice to drop by Don's shop. It is more than nice when I get to leave with an order!
This one is special to me. It is my first large fixed damascus order with Don. Plus, it is my first fixed MS-blade from Don.
I seem to key in on Don's ivory with lots of character, if you remember the Gnarly Bowie from last year. This walrus piece seemed to fit the blade shape best everytime we looked at it.
The blade never seems to look it, but is right under 10-inches. It is 3/16ths thick, 360-layer Snaggle Tooth Hanson damascus, and Don knows how to make it shimmer. The 300-layer one-piece guard is grooved for contrast.
This pre-pin view of the walrus handle shows the natural skull crusher we elected to leave. The 'hollow' end normally found around this core piece was either broken away by the Eskimo or from years of being in the ocean.
The handle is thin, and the blade is almost 10-inches long. This is the lightest fighter I think I have handled. It is well balanced and very quick in the hand. I may need a backup if I am forced to use the skull crusher!
Thanks for looking.
