It is always nice to drop by Don's shop. It is more than nice when I get to leave with an order!
This one is special to me. It is my first large fixed damascus order with Don. Plus, it is my first fixed MS-blade from Don.
I seem to key in on Don's ivory with lots of character, if you remember the Gnarly Bowie from last year. This walrus piece seemed to fit the blade shape best everytime we looked at it.

The blade never seems to look it, but is right under 10-inches. It is 3/16ths thick, 360-layer Snaggle Tooth Hanson damascus, and Don knows how to make it shimmer. The 300-layer one-piece guard is grooved for contrast.

This pre-pin view of the walrus handle shows the natural skull crusher we elected to leave. The 'hollow' end normally found around this core piece was either broken away by the Eskimo or from years of being in the ocean.

The handle is thin, and the blade is almost 10-inches long. This is the lightest fighter I think I have handled. It is well balanced and very quick in the hand. I may need a backup if I am forced to use the skull crusher! ;)

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful blade, but why did you let your dog chew on the handle? ;):D

Very nice Joe. Great damascus pattern and as always the most unique ivory around.

Don's pieces are always very proportionate in spite of his typical long blades.

Nice contrast, the 360-layer in the beautiful blade and the 300-layer in the guard.
Gorgeous walrus,I'd have elected to leave the skull crusher as well.

Nice pick up,Joe.

Doug :)

I think that this is one of the best looking fixed blades that you have done to date, Don.

Congrats, Joe.

If it isn't inapropriate might I ask what something like that with a wood type handle or something not as exotic and same style blade and length would run in both Damascus and nonDamascus??

That is a phenominal blade!!!

Don definitely makes some of the nicest knives you will find anywhere. This is another example of just how talented he is.

Hey Joe...You have every right to be proud, simply a wonderful knife
Don Hanson a Scary Fine Talent

Very nice indeed. This one is different too. I always love that curve in middle of the blades.

Just a beautiful piece. Don does some of the most graceful big fixed blades out there. This one is really fantastic.

stefanj - not inappropriate to ask price, but better to e-mail Don for the info.

Congrats Joe - you have one heck of a Hanson collection!

Roger

Thanks for all the positive comments, guys! Don's forged blade was a given. Then, he took this narrow, unique piece of walrus, which even had a little twist in it, and made it work masterfully.

Don, Thats very nice, I also like the one piece guard. On your blade did you use some closed dies to forge the pattern in or did you grind them in?
Shawn

Beautifull knife!

Don can make something complicated look soooo simple. Again, excellent work.
