This was a special order for a Japanese Nephew who took a great liking to his Hanuman khukuri.

Size is 12x8 inches overall. Hanuman is 9 inches tall. Weight of carving is almost 3.5 pounds! I don't know what kind of wood this is but whatever it is it's dense.

You can judge for yourself regarding skill & effort by Newari Carving Man. I've forgotten his name but we have a pix of him somewhere.

Just in case anybody wants a duplicate Hanuman is not cheap. Price is $250.

Wonderful work. I am envious of both the piece and the carver's skill. I got to get one of those carved sheaths one day. And a set of authentic Nepali carving tools.

and hoping that the carver makes most of that. Is this the same carver who does all of HI's detail woodcarving?

Th reason I ask is the HI Falcata that I have came with a scabbard that is a total work of art (woodcarving and silversmithing). Sheath is like 22" by 3", carved with four gods. Looks like Krishna, Ganesh, Hanuman, and a temple guardian, still identifying that one...
