Well I got the sword I was planning on buying back in November. A Hanwei Rhinelander after reading pretty good reviews of the sword and of Hanwei in general. Keeping in mind that I bought this with a very low probability that I'd use it more than a couple of times; and use it a couple of times I did, literally twice... cut through two plastic water bottles. Now I'm no expert, nor do I have any plans or desire to be but, I do know that rattling handles are a bad sign.

Just, as in just now, sent an e-mail request through their site, had a heck of a time finding it, for warranty stuff so we'll see how that turns out. As of right now, I'm not very impressed with it.

PS.
Yes I followed all of the advice I was given:

Buy from reputable dealer
Look it over really good
Don't buy that one... err... wait. :p

I'll be interested to hear the resolution here. A reputable dealer should help you out, I'd think. I'm not the biggest fan of Hanwei's western stuff, although I'm usually one of the first to recommend them for eastern weapons.

They gave me an easy fix to retighten the guard and it was common on peened handles. It was an easy fix they said most likely caused by the handle drying combined with the little bit of use. We'll see how it turns out. The people at Kultofathena (where I bought it) and Hanwei's customer service were prompt and gave good answers and I learndid something.

Now on to the next issue.. How to fix my yoyo.

The Rhinelander is one of the swords that I've always admired. I may just have to break down and buy one.
