that's awesome, ken. with how transitory modern relationships seem to be, it's really beautiful that they've managed to weather everything over the years.:thumbup::thumbup:
That's like an eternity compared to marriages nowdays. Congrats, my parents are on 32, Let me guess, you are going to get them LE Zilla #49 for now, and #50 for next year???? Probably not but had to ask. Congrats once more
My dad's idea of knife handle material is Stag, Stag, or Stag. If Stag isn't an option, then Stag is a suitable substitute. In other words, he really likes knife handles made out of Stag.
He also likes Randalls.
Thus, I ordered a Randall #5-6" with Stag handle and two lines of blade etching back in 2004, and it was done in 2008. The photo of the actual knife below was taken by Rick Bowles, who will be scrimshawing the polished portion of the Stag handle, on the left side:
I also had a special sheath made for it, with a Rattlesnake inlay:
So, it still needs to be scrimshawed, and my idea is to use the head of a coyote (God's dog). I will also have a display made for it.
Congrats to your folks! (we just celebrated my parents' 45th on the 1st - my, how time flies...). That Randall and sheath are just plain AWESOME - what a wonderful gift!
