Hawk, can you share some specifics on construction? Feel free to wait until the hangover subsides though. Lol. I'll email you after the 4th.

That's a real beauty, I would be proud of that piece, you have a real talent, love everything about it especially the blade shape. If you don't mind me asking what's the steel?

Hi guys! Thanks for the nice comments. The construction is 1084 blade, stainless liners, 3/8 pivot and red/black linen micarta.

That's a unique traditional. Actually think thats my first tanto traditional ive seen. Happy 4th.

Could you put up pics from more angles and some construction details?

Looks really great.

Thank you everyone for the very nice responses. I had a great 4th, and I hope everyone else did as well.

I response to more photos, I snapped a few extra this AM along with a few others I've done. All are 1084 carbon friction folders with brass washers and 3/8" adjustable tension pivots.
One is in Black Ash Burl wood and backspacer with stainless liners. This one I put a dull patina on the full blade. Exposed pins.
One is red/black linen micarta with stainless liners and 1084 backspacer. This one I left the heat scale on the blade other than the bevels. Hidden pins
The last one is tan G10 with no liners and 1084 backspacer. This one I did a light patina with satin bevels. Hidden pins. *I still have to recess the pivot on this one.

I added a my GEC #72LB for size comparison. Apologies for the picture quality.

Great work! The blade shape has a little bit of curve to it, and reminds me of my Higonokami. I think that one of these with a 3 inch closed length to it would be fantastic! (especially the tan G10)

Thanks guys. Yes, the blades have a slight up sewpt belly. I didn't want a true tanto/wharncliffe straight edge. But there is always next time to do another variation.
