The 4th is a "Big Deal" for us as Americans in general, around here it is a fever pitch.
Gettysburg is about an hour and a half away.

Umm "Happy 4th" "Happy Birthday" Thank You to ALL who have served or still do.

Thank you, Rubi. It's 7AM, cool and on the second straight day or continuous rain. Pretty safe to say the local fireworks are cancelled tonight. :( I'm just sitting here remembering my tours in the sand, hoping that I get the chance to go back. Guess a part of me misses dodging bullets, rockets, and mortars. Although I didn't always dodge the bullets successfully. But freedom is worth the price.

We are indebted to you LW, many of you went off to war to fight for peace only to come home to peace and still find war.

Thank you!

LW- don't know what to say but Thank You. Happy Independence Day to everyone and especially those who fight to keep us that way!!! My son Reiley and his troop putting up flags...

That's for sure. I'm very much one of them.

Maprik, great pic! Handsome son you have there.

Thank you to those who directed kind words back in my direction.

It's very much appreciated but, this holiday is not about any one person, not a time to reflect on self...

So, my deepest Thank You to all who have and continue to do what needs done.

Happy Independence Day!

"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epocha in the history of America. I am apt to believe it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore."

John Adams

I wish everyone a safe and Happy 4th of July!

Thank you to all who served to protect our freedom!! God Bless!

Not about any one person, but each person is a part of the whole that makes this country special. Happy 4th, N2K and everyone!

Gettysburg ALL this weekend, re-enactors are enduring 90+ degree temps and rediculous humidity in period correct Heavy Wool uniforms.
Uggghhhh, talking about committed lovers of history.
I wonder how many have XM's in the pocket;)
