No matter weather you are bbqing with the family, seeing a fireworks show, attending a tea party, or just getting drunk with the guys... Today's significance is more important now than ever. Enjoy (and protect) the fruits of the patriots who died before us to make a more perfect union.

These words still make my heart beat faster and my emotions swell. My eyes still tear up with the Colors pass in review and I know I am a citizen in one of the greatest countries in the world. I underlined two passages that are becoming more important with each passing day however as the Rights and Freedoms this document describes are being stolen away from us. Today I will simply celebrate my Nation's birthday, may attend a Tea Party. Tomorrow I will continue my watch, making sure our freedoms aren't stolen away. As you celebrate this day please take time to remember all of those who have died. From the North Bridge at Concord to the sands of the Middle East today...these men and women deserve to be remembered and respected.

Now I'm off to fire up the grill... hopefully I'll keep my eyebrows attached this time. :D
 
Ended up dropping almost $100 on some "safe and sane" CA fireworks. I took a pair of vice grips (would you believe I don't own a hammer?) to 6 piccolo petes to loosen up the powder and cause a nice echoing blast. Lots of "illegal" fireworks were visible across the horizon. Mortars and blockbusters mostly. Did some of those coffee can sized fountains. Me and the Mrs. were blowing the stuff up at an empty parking lot with a Hispanic family that live in an appartment near mine. One of the guys is active Army and his father was former Army so we were in great company.

:D I went to the top of a mountain on my sister's friend's farm and watched them in a couple of valleys below. I had a little bit more fun out on the beach a few weeks ago with some roman candles and other questionable fireworks, which reminds me did you know that whatever shoots out of roman candles can bounce?

We had quite a few candle fights in the barracks. After getting hit, they really aren't that scary.

:D Did you know if you twisted a couple of fuses together and get lucky you can shoot four at a time in one hand? instead of sounding like thud......thud.....thud it ends up being a thud.thud.thud..

I had more fun tonight with sparklers. I taped 5 together and tied a 4' string swing it around lit. The people we were with gave me a bunch of packs of jumping jacks, kinda fun if you can throw them up right before they go off.
