Happy Birfday 2 me

Thanks! I got it sized yesterday and feels and looks like such a beefy manly looking watch in person! lol

Oh yeah and also sold a bunch of my never carries so had to treat myself to ordering my first full size cqc7 got the tan handle v grind version, probably send off and get full v edge grind when I get it! Can’t wait

Would just like to share what my awesome wife and children gave me for my bday! Been salivating over one but never would have spent the money on it! https://imgur.com/a/Rl6Aw one of casios new g shock G Steel

Happy birthday! Somebody got a sick gift!

Here is a cqc7v I tried to regrind into a V edge before I realized reprofiling is basically impossible with the sharp maker. I was learning to sharpen on this knife and ended up putting a recurve on the blade. (Thank god I know what I'm doing now)

Took it to my local Japanese water stone sharpener. He put this insane mirror edge on it. Now it has a true V ground edge, and abit of recurve!

Yeah I almost felt too guilty to accept it! That’s way more than we usually spend for bday gifts, I thought jeez I could get it alot cheaper on ebay and take this one back and pocket 150 but they were all from shanghai and third world areas so I thought nah just enjoy the actual one they went out and hunted down!

Dang! Id b afraid of ruining it. I say that cause I recently flipper deleted my very first xm18 and knicked the edge and had to send it to razor edge knives, and should b here Monday and from picks it looks insane. So I’ll probably send it to him

Nice G Shock. I didn’t know that model existed, now I gotta have it.

Btw regrinding my cqc7v made me realize that for the V ground Emersons (chisel edge) reprofiling to a true v edge has very little effect on cutting. (It helps make the knife not pull to one side as much, but on the v ground chisel edge Emersons the pull is not that bad anyway) All it really seemed to do is make sharpening take twice as long now that you have two sides to sharpen. Two edges, two sides each! With the chisel edge it is two edges but only one side each and just knock the burr off the back.

But the one thing regrinding the edge on that 7v taught me is how much I loved the chisel edge and even chisel grind. Had to get some new Cqc7s (left side is reground one)

Good to know, obviously u like the tan models. How long u had um? They been good edc’s?

They are one of my all time favourite knives. I like all the waved cqcs, particularly tantos. That reground tan one was my second cqc7 (lost the first, which was a 7b) and has given excellent service for a long time. Some how one of the screws on the butt has stripped the threads in the titanium and doesn't want to screw in now. (Will try to thread it in with some purple loctite)

The tans both came with a little lock stick but have worn in perfectly where they lock up with no lock stick or play. (As the lock is no longer sticking the wear has virtually stopped. If the lock does finally give then there is Emerson's stellar warranty)

Overall if I had to pick only 3 of my foldong knives to keep it would be: Cqc7v, Spydie P'kal, and my large Inkosi. That will give you an idea of how much I love this knife. It feels so good in hand too in every grip, edge in or out tip facing up or down. Design wise I prefer the non flipper cqc7s. The flipper tab is way too big and is detrimental to the non flipper versions awesome ergonomics.

The cqc7s are not too big, they carry decently. They are good at edc stuff and I like the tanto shape. (Particularly good for cutting paper with secondary tip as that paper lays on a cutting surface) At the same time the waved cqc7s has some self defence capability at the same time.

Nice bday gift!!!! I'm sure it's well deserved.
And here all this time I thought Casio watches were throw a way's like Timex. Learn something new every day. Thanks for sharing such a gorgeous watch.
