Thanks All! 68 and still chuggin. Don't get on the forum all that much anymore.
Interesting and a little embarrassing today- - - -
I was really needing some respite from my parental caregiving duties. I hired a lady for 16 hours a week, 9-5 on Tues and Wed. She helps give Mom a bath, etc. some light cooking, well not so light, biscuits and all kinds of things. She is always bringing extra stuff over like home made jelly and things. Very good hearted.
Realizing the good heartedness of her, last week I warned her, NO birthday cake, no present, just another day.
I frequently visit the local grocery, know most of the people by name and they know me and my situation..
The lady I hired, just happens to be the Mother of the Grocery Manager.
I walk in today with my little list of things I needed to get.
The Manager and his wife walk up to me, wish me a Happy Birthday and present me with A Birthday Cake and a very nice card. An announcement was made over the store announcement system, saying I was in the store and everyone wished me a 'Happy birthday'.
I was a little embarrassed and shouted out THANK YOU TO ALL. I didn't open the card or look closely at the cake, as I was running my little grocery list. I got to the check out with my stuff and commented that I had to buy some ice cream to go with the lovely cake, and thank you very much. Brian the checker/Produce Mgr, said, "You do know that is an ICE CREAM CAKE, don't you?" Me: What's an ice cream cake? Never heard of one. Well, I know now!
Rushed home and put it into the freezer right away. Sure was good!
The beautiful card was signed by all the people I joke and talk with on my visits to the store. SOME VERY NICE PEOPLE!
As I said, I was a bit embarrassed of people making a fuss, but thats why I like to shop there, as it is a people store, not just another customer going thru the check out.
Over all a nice relaxing day, I did basically what I wanted to do, while Marilyn took care of Mom.
Thanks again, to all the fine people on the forum. I try to visit as often as I can, albiet, I don't post that much.
