Many thanks, guys! I am writing this from Rock Springs, Wyoming. I'll be in South Dakota later this morning.

My seven-year-old daughter and I got to Hot Springs, South Dakota before noon. My wife was planning to accompany us, but she had a family emergency that necessitated a flight to Japan. My wife did send along a nice bottle of wine and a card with our daughter, though. She sent to me a "Happy Birthday" text message shortly after midnight.

As far as celebrating, my parents will be taking my daughter and I to a nice restaurant tonight. It is called The Dakota Grill, and serves great fish.

It has been many years since I was able to celebrate my birthday with my parents. My parents' 45th anniversary is this Saturday, and my dad's 72nd birthday is a week from tomorrow. My daughter and I will be here for both.

Again, thank you for the birthday wishes!
