Happy birthday to the coolest mad scientist the world has ever known. The inventor of such things as AC power generation, the radio (Marconi was a hack), radar, and the induction motor. He worked on theories that have a veil of secrecy and confusion surrounding them today such as the ultimate electric car, wireless transmission of electricity, and death rays and particle beams. Conspiracy theories surround him such as his Wardenclyffe Tower being the cause of the Tunguska Blast, and his supposed faked death and dealings with experiments in teleportation and time travel at Camp Hero in Montauk, resulting in stories of a "Montauk Monster" brought from some alien world.

Happy birthday to the world's coolest Croat...

Fascinating guy ! My friend has a book about Tesla and when I looked through it there was NO mention of radio !! Now there is an electric car on the market called the TESLA !! A weird but wonderfull brain.

Happy B-Day, Nikola!

From what I understand, he knew things about electricity that were lost when he died. I can't help but think we kinda need that knowledge now.

Yeah, you bet. More knowledge of his generation of tremendously high voltages and the exact nature of his "ball lightning" could be useful in fusion research. There was other stuff too, solid state switches and the like.

He was truly a great man. His gifts to the world are outright monumental.

Dang! Had been busy the past couple of days preparing for a lecture and missed this post.

A belated Happy B-Day as well to the great Nikola Tesla! The world needs to know, rediscover and acknowledge this man whom humanity owes so much in terms of advancing knowledge and inventions that basically shaped the 20th century onwards. Yes, a lot has been said or written about him and far-fetched or mind boggling they may be, they only underscore the immense genius this man had, of how far he still could have done.

When I found out about the sordid history of the AC vs. DC wars, Edison dropped SEVERAL notches from my perspective (WTF is electrocuting a pachyderm about!?!!)

Oh yeah, the HS 2000 (platform design for the Springfield XD) is another great thing from the Croats besides him!

Unfortunately (well to Tesla geeks like myself), Wardenclyffe, here on Long Island, is up for sale. A developer wants to raze it and build condos.
