My son, (bless his pointy little head) this weekend gifted me with an early birthday present. He says every Senior Citizen should have one of these. A brand spanking new 279WA w/the most over the top sheath I have ever seen. What a piece!! You definitely know you are carrying a KNIFE!! A real BEAUTY. Loving it for sure.

Mariner, happy birthday. I couldn't agree with you more regarding the heft of the Folding Alpha Hunter. I know lightweight materials like titanium and G-10 are all the rage, but I like the feel of steel and hardwood. Guess I'm kinda old-fashioned.

My 279WA is my hard-use utility knife, and has had the misfortune of riding on my hip for about eight months. In this time, I have used it to hack, pry, dig and hammer, half-expecting it to give up the ghost during these warranty-voiding chores. Not a chance -- this is one tough knife. Enjoy yours.
