Well, i'm celebrating 21 consecutive years of life on this slowly hurtling rock we call a planet today. Amidst a bunch of expensive gifts from family that I didn't really want (never understood that), my friend Patrick got me what I really wanted...

A Kershaw! Standard Skyline model. I've handled these briefly before but never really came to appreciate it until I carried it around for a bit today. Really, what a charming knife. It's so light you forget it's in your pocket, if you find the right angle on the thumbstud it will just snap open, and the G-10 handles feel great. What a sweet little EDC choice; my Groove is going to get jealous now!

of course I already swapped the clip around for tip up, took it apart and did a mild sanding on the washers and relubed it, and readjusted the pivot screw, then loc-tited it and the clip screws. So yeah. This one's good to go. Can't wait to see how smooth it gets as the washers wear in a bit more - my Groove is just unbelievably smooth now.

and here's some more KerPr0n for you guys:

anyway I think i'll get myself another sharp pointy object of enjoyment later this week when I total up the birthday money pull-in... I am thinking a Lahar or a RAM... thoughts?

happy bday brother!....i got a lahar recently...great great knife for the money but it is HUGE....it is way to big for me to carry all the time....ryan

yeah that was my thought on the Lahar... feels good in the hand, but it's more of a camping knife... haha

i think as far as size goes, i value a narrow knife rather than a short one. That's just me though.

The Lahar is an amazing knife for the price. Good ergos, good steel, good handles, tip up option...I dont think you can go wrong.

Lemme beat everyone else to it: Buy both :)

J_Curd, did you see my thread from last week?

"When in doubt... buy both!"

;-)

Happy B day. Glad you got something you wanted heh. Nice set of Kershaws ya got there.

The RAM gets my vote. But of course you know what you'll more
then likely carry. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Happy BD!! Enjoy that Skyline.

Happy Birthday nb! 21 years, eh? Congrats!

As for this "slowly hurtling rock" thing, here's a little perspective, that Eric Idle used to sing on Monty Python's Flying Circus...sorry, couldn't find the YouTube vid, but I remember the words...

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the "Milky Way".

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

Gotsa recommend Lee William's ENER-G II!

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you.

The Skyline is a great knife. I am still waiting on my Damascus version to get here even though I just ordered it this morning.

I agree with the above quote. I have one in my personal collection.
I have never used it though. I just look at it.
