Like the 4th of July in America - Independence Day, the 1st of July celebrates the foundation of Canada as a country, joining 3 colonial entities into the 4 original provinces.
I am fortunate to be a citizen of both of these great allies, and often marvel at the co-operation between the two that has done so much for the world in past generations!
May that co-operation continue in future years!

Happy Canada Day Waynorth!

(to keep things traditional knife oriented, imagine a picture of a nice trapper here:) )

Wishing a very Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians.

I'll second that. Great friends above the border, we are lucky to have them for a next door neighbor.

It wouldn't be Canada day without a Canadian-marked knife from S-K!!
Thanks Steve, for keeping the tradition!!

I knew there was a reason for my taking a vacation day today.

Happy Canada Day.

Thanks Charlie. I suppose posting this knife is also becoming a little Canada Day tradition. This Boker penknife was made in 1907 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the formation of the Dominion of Canada. It shows the shields of the nine provinces as they existed at the time. They are arranged in order of joining the Dominion from left to right in the second photo. Alberta and Saskatchewan were the most recent additions in 1905. Newfoundland and Labrador, which became a province in 1949, is not included.

British Columbia is represented by the shield with the setting sun - third from the right in the bottom pic, and where I am right now. A hot day for the rain forest, in Vancouver! A sunny 30C (90F) degree Canada Day!
Nice to hear from all our Canadian members!

And thanks to you Jack! I am doing my best!!;)

Happy Canada Day, to the canadian fellows... :)
