Bawanna, no beer, well at least not in my comment. Dashain is a multi day celebration, day 1 yesterday (if it WAS day1 yesterday), is kind of one of the bigger parts, where they plant barley seeds in a pot called a kalasha. Day 7 is the next big day of the celebration where the barley has sprouted into grassyness and is a big parade. Day 8 is the day (night) of the blood sacrifices, Day 9 is the only day all year that the major temple is open to the public and also the day of the military blood sacrifices (the buffalo like the videos from last year when the gurkhas sacrificed the watermelon instead) and Day 10 is the day of the blessings. So perhaps I was off a couple days and Auntie meant that Day 10 was yesterday as this is known as the Dashami and is the day everyone visits their elders to receive their blessings.
umm, at least that is how I understand it. Anyone that knows more I am more than willing to defer to.
