I was greeted with a welcomed surprise when I returned home from work yesterday. My wife had spoken with my hunting buddy and basically cleared the way for me to go deer hunting next weekend. I have missed the last few seasons and didn't think I would be able to make this one but, after some sweet talking by Uncle T, he was able to convince her that it had been too long and I needed to get my butt up there.
I am so pumped it was hard to sleep last night. I will also be making this an "all JK" hunt, bringing my Trapline, Camp Knife and the Sparkler as my blades. I really hope to catch a break and be able to try out the Trapline for processing duties. I will start organizing my gear tonight, which is actually one of my favorite parts of the hunt process. This is a trip I have made many times before and I really look forward to all the little things that we do.....a stop at Mullin's Cheese Factory for some 5 year old cheddar, picking up some Dilly Beans and a bottle of "The Doctor" (schnapps), homemade deer ham and sausage, oh I can't wait!
