I was greeted with a welcomed surprise when I returned home from work yesterday. My wife had spoken with my hunting buddy and basically cleared the way for me to go deer hunting next weekend. I have missed the last few seasons and didn't think I would be able to make this one but, after some sweet talking by Uncle T, he was able to convince her that it had been too long and I needed to get my butt up there.

I am so pumped it was hard to sleep last night. I will also be making this an "all JK" hunt, bringing my Trapline, Camp Knife and the Sparkler as my blades. I really hope to catch a break and be able to try out the Trapline for processing duties. I will start organizing my gear tonight, which is actually one of my favorite parts of the hunt process. This is a trip I have made many times before and I really look forward to all the little things that we do.....a stop at Mullin's Cheese Factory for some 5 year old cheddar, picking up some Dilly Beans and a bottle of "The Doctor" (schnapps), homemade deer ham and sausage, oh I can't wait!

Have a blast, Sean!!

Have a great time, and take plenty of photos!

I will! I just love the Northwoods......so very scenic this time of the year. At least I will finally get a chance to try out my Blackhawk. There was a report in the news today warning hunters of a cougar that was spotted (although not around where I will be hunting) and there have been numerous wolf sightings around where I will be. I will feel much safer with Mr. Ruger and Mr. JK along for the walk to and from our blinds.

Awesome!! Glad your getting a chance to go, and enjoy being outdoors.

I got a late start on deer season, but I've been seeing deer the last two days. Seen up to four does at a time together, and two small bucks have cruised thru at different times. Had three coyotes come thru today too (well now there's two). Been watching a couple hawks flying over a CRP field as well. Yesterday was a little windy, but today couldn't have been much nicer weather wise.

It will be another year or two before I can get back out hunting. I envy you. Enjoy it. Take a lot of pics to share please.
