Happy Father’s Day! Knife content.

Here is my Fathers knife. It was his only hunting knife. He had other knives, but this is “his knife”, if that makes sense. It lived on his night stand

It’s a USN MK1 Deck Knife Made by PAL

He liked it because it had a long handle, and with its flat grind it was good for slicing onions and garlic.

He said a “hunting knife should be able to clean a deer and slice an onion, hopefully you’ll need to do both”
The original sheath is just about wore out so I’m carrying it today in a replacement made by TripleK

I often wonder which of my knives will my daughter keep that may remind her of me? I have given her two or three. I have a Laguiole she liked that had an elephant on it and small village hut.i also have given her a SA she does use occasionally.

Happy Father’s Day!

My Dad is a Lieutenant for a Sheriff department (and retired a Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force E.O.D. before that). Today he gave me this. :)

I bought my father this Kershaw 5200 when I was a teenager. He wasn't interested in knives, nor was he an outdoorsman, and he was one of those fathers who was impossible to buy gifs for, so I just bought him a knife to get him something.

I never saw him use it, and figured it just ended up in a drawer like so many other gifts. I never asked him about it to avoid putting him on the spot. After he died I found the knife, in one of his drawers, but to my surprise the blade was scratched up, and had tape residue and other gunk on it that clearly indicated use, and the handle was noticeably scratched up from frequent pocket carry.

Now I carry it. Not for sentimental reasons, but because it's a good knife and because it serves as my "discreet use" knife when out in public.

How is that monster!! Love the look, like a giant gitano!!! Just not a fan of frame locks!! Really have to like a design to jump in on one!!
I like it a lot, but I do tend toward these style and size blades. It's ground nice and thin, and it seems like they did a good job on the heat treat too...didn't take much damage while refinishing the blade and sharpened back up nicely😎
