My older son is a corporate pilot and had a trip today, so we met yesterday. He bought me a great lunch at a local eatery I can't afford - then gave me a great present - no, not a tie - a knife!
Okay, it wasn't a Buck... it's a Gerber - a black LMFII. He said it is a 'utility' knife - and to use it. Hmmm - interesting knife - and holster - the leg straps went back in the box - still pretty massive - until I compared it with a good old KaBar, which is longer - and has no serrations. This Gerber is my first partially serrated knife. Neat - but I am not a 'tactical' type. I will cherish it, of course. My younger son is trying to get some presentations ready for here in Birmingham (He lives in Atlanta.), so I told him to not drive over to see me. Besides, his wife and the trio of grandmonsters are terrorizing the Gulf Coast now with her folks. I am proud that they turned out so well (Neither's mug has yet to grace the US Post office wall - or my grandmonsters on a milk carton, for that matter.). They both told me I was a great Dad - not just their father. You bet I keep feeling for my wallet!
