My son called and told me the Mailman brought the girls a big surprise! They were excited to receive mail. I was surprised to hear they didn't fight over the Katne's. One Black, one red, each wanted red but one changed her mind because of the blade shape of one khukuri. I think just getting something was what they were happy about, but an extra surprise included in the package really got them worked up, Aunt Yangdu went overboard, thank You!!! The pins were what they carried around and wanted to wear them. I asked my son to try to explain to them where the blades are made and a little of the history. At their age , 6 & 7 it is difficult.

This forum and the people here are so very special!

Sams, Sounds great! :D Please keep us upto date on how the girls like them and use them.

I'm thinking either Barbie or Ken is in BIG trouble.

Hopefully nothing to lose their heads over. ;)

(I am already trying to figure out how I am going to divvy up my collection among four boys - someday. :))

Great story!

Kagas Katne is probably the perfect size for them, and fixed blades are a better place to start than folders, for safety reasons. Make sure they read the FAQ :D (or at least have someone show them the correct draw, fingers away from the blade side of the scabbard, etc.)

Depending on where they live, wearing the pins to school might not be such a good idea. Pin is probably duller than a pair of safety scissors, but might freak out the wrong person (if they could even figure out what it was!!!)
