OK so Saturday I'm riding through Springfield and see a place called Woodcraft. So I think to myself "Maybe they have some hardwood. Some Maple or something. I need some handle material and I don't feel like ordering it." So I walk in. In the corner of the store I find a large rack containing Bloodwood, Rosewoods, Ebony, Bocote, Cocobolo, etc. At this point I'm thinking "COOL!". It wasn't until I saw the prices that I got really excited. I bought a piece of 3/8" x 3" x 24" Honduras Rosewood for $10. That's about twice the cost of buying scales from a knife supply place but several times as big. On top of that, I no longer have to wait for handle material or pay shipping, I can choose which pieces I like, and I can buy any size I want! After picking up a piece of Bloodwood and Bocote too, I checked out the rest of the store. They have every kind of grinder you'd ever want, tons of shapening devices, belts, wheels - I started drooling in the aisle. The guy at the register even gave me a catalog and said that if there was anything I wanted that he didn't have, he'd order it. If they only sold steel, I'd never have to order another thing from a knife supply place. They have a website: http://www.woodcraft.com. Even if you have to pay shipping they have good prices and a good selection of wood. YAY! I'm happy.
