Happy New Year to all of my friends in Shop Talk. A toast to all of you!

Post photos of your special holiday items and traditions.

From Vienna:
Marzipan pigs are given on New Years Eve in Germany and Austria for good luck. You cut them up and eat then on January 1st.
Just down the street 100m is Stephansplatz. They expect 700,000 or more people to attend the celebrations at six places throughout the 1.11sq.mi city. Crowds will move from place to place along the Nwe Year's Eve Trail, and many will end up here at Stephansplatz. Around 400,000 will be at Stephansplatz at midnight. At midnight all the church bells ... including the monstrous Pummerin ... will ring. It is only rung a few times a year.

I will either listen from my room, or walk out into the street in front of Domizil ... I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid.20241231_204020.jpg20241231_192957.jpg

Happy New Year! I made it to about 10pm and was just about drooling on myself, but in my defense, I worked an extra 4, 3rd shifts in 6 days (including both my days off and my normal day shifts), with the last being 1st shift 12/30/24, then 3rd shift 12/30/24 and 1st shift 12/31/24, so I was up for just about 24 hours on about 4 hours sleep before I finally conked out.
