Happy Pi Day

What are you all talking about?
Plancks constant (sorry - I misspelled it above) is essentially the energy capacity of a photon - it relates the energy of the photon to its frequency.

I think the point is (or at least that I was trying to make) is that there are a whole **bunch** of "constants" out there in physics, engineering, and science in general, so picking on Pi to celebrate a day is somewhat arbitrary.

I do though like the point about Tau that richard makes ..... points out that Pi day is even more arbitrary

I think what you are overlooking is that π is pronounced like pie, which makes it pretty easy to celebrate and commercialize ($2 off a medium pizza on 3/14!). The Euler number is just a whole lot less marketable, sorry. And even if we could find a date for it, cedar Planck salmon is just not going to get anybody off the couch, and doing an abs workout even less so. Even π day is struggling overseas. In Germany, for instance, the pronunciation is closer to "pee" and I don't recall anybody celebrating it... (we also write dates in day/month order, e.g., 14.3, maybe that has something to do with it).

Well, pie is delicious, of course it should have it's own day!

Planks are not delicious. Therefore, no day!

Makes perfect sense!

Pi is recognized by everyone on earth. After all, who doesn't like pi.

Ever hear anyone say "As American as Apple tau"?
Or, a crazy idea described as "e in the sky"?
Did Little Jack Horner sit in the corner eating his Christmas Fibonacci?
Did the moon hit Dean Martin in the eye like a big piece of Young's constant?
Would "Easy as Feigenbaum's constant" even make sense?

I will admit that Planck's constant makes general relativity easy as pie.

The tau method would take me 300 years to figure out.

Planks constant is relevant to only a few strange people. Those folks don't go out in daylight, They also only use Zulu time.

e and exponential functions are confusing to most everyone. I would have to do some experiments enev to find it.

However, in Lower Slobovia I hear that they still teach that pi are round, not squared.

The above is filled with inside jokes and trivia. Can you figure them out.

LOL. fair enough.

The date order thing is something that bugs me. I have long favored the syntax ""day""month""year" ..... like today is 14Mar2022. it is unambiguous

I don't know about standing around in a big circle with you guys.

Well that's two pi, or tau, which is partly why people claim it should be tau day.
I agree pi day sounds better and coincidentally I'm about to heat up some pizza.
