Hi, I recently dug my hapstone R2 out of my garage, stripped it, and cleaned it down. After I put it back together I noticed that the rear support rod wobbled quite a bit. This can be resolved to some extent by adding the locking collar above it but there is still a bit of play.

My issue is that I don't know how much wobble there was before I started so I'm not sure whether it's an issue or not. Is there anyone who owns an R2 model that can comment on how much the rear support rod wobbles?

If you're talking about the vertical rod that goes into the base, then there should not be wobble in it. It should be installed from the bottom of the base - pull it up all the way and then install the locking collar onto the vertical rod at the top of the base. Pull the vertical rod up while pushing the collar down and then tighten the collar.

Yes vertical rod was the phrase i was looking for thanks.

I have done as you have instructed yet there is still a bit of wobble. It looks as if it is the black housing with 4 screws in has a bit of wiggle room. It looks as if it was 3d printed or something similar.

Ill test to see if its a problem and then look to secure it maybe with some glue if it is a problem. The part looks like it could be easily replaced.

Gotcha. Yes there normally is not much play so yours might have gotten damaged or something. It shouldn't make any difference to your sharpening performance though.
