Hello all

I've been using a hapstone v7 for a few years now, I enjoy it although I do have a problem with some blades tending to wiggle because of the grind and not laying flat against the magnetic table ...

I think the rotating clamp would help but couldn't find it on their site

Is the v7 not supported anymore? Is there any other system clamp that will work?

Thank you!

Hello all

I think it probably is possible to modify the R2 rotating clamp module to work, if you don't mind drilling holes in your V7 table. One way would be to drill a hole through the mounting plate, on each side of the barrel, and matching holes through the table. Then use some small bolts and nuts to fasten it to the table. The barrel is 1 1/2 inches wide, so the table probably needs to be at least 2 inches wide for that to work. Another way would be remove the mounting plate. Use it as a guide to drill matching holes in the table or the slide guide. Then mount the rotating barrel directly to that. This is a picture of the bottom of the R2 clamp module.

I do wonder however, if the same blade grinds that give you wiggle problems on the magnetic table, might not give clamping problems?

If memory serves the rotating clamp for the V7 turned out to be a dud because it put the knife edge too far in front of the sharpener making it very unstable when sharpening.

Doesn't the M2 have a sliding support plate, to eliminate blade wiggle on the magnet when sharpening rounded blades ?
