If anyone was thinking about purchasing one of the Harbor Freight horizonal/verical band saws, its on sale for $159.99 till the 24th of April, thats the cheapest i've ever seen it. I've had mine since 1993 and paid $179.00 for it then. Also make sure you get a bimetal blade for it. Tom

I've only had mine for a year but it is great, I'll second the bimetal blades. I use Lenox Diemaster 2's
Great saw!

Get good blades. Best purchase ever in terms of saving sweat and work and frustration and time vs my old drill and hacksaw routine

I just got 0one of those 2 weeks ago and it works like a charm. I set it up vertical and kind of sit on it (straddle) while I saw. The blade that came with it is fine for Micarta or aluminum maybe, but the teeth came right off when I used it to saw steel. I fixed that with a new $10.00 blade from Home Depot. So far I've cut out some 1/4" 440C hatchets and a bunch of thick Micarta and no dulling yet.
A good saw at a great price.

I also use straddling techique :) , otherwise the whole thing tilts
as one pushes steel into the blade.

Have had mine for 2+ years, only use bimetal blades from McMaster,
they last forever.

An avid HF supporter here : BS, Minimill, 8x12, TIG, Mig, Buffer/Grinder,
countless little things :)

BTW - China has a 1M+ worker shortage. Bonuses, healthcare, higher
pay are fast becoming a norm. Prices WILL go up.

Buy 'em while they are inexpensive.

Padrig - what did you buy/where did you get it?! I need to find more canadian sources.

Got mine and set it up... can't wait to play with it. Got it with 1 year replacement for about 150. Can't beat that.
