Hey folks, I was wondering if any of you hae any experience with one of the harbor freight portable bandsaws like this one

I really don't have the room for horizontal/vertical saw that seems to be so popular so i thought this might be a good alternative. Figured I'd ask on here before getting it though as Harbor Freight tools really tend to be hit or miss from product to product.

Any reviews or ifeedback about them would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

The have been quite a few posts on this little saw. Most positive. Some conversions to mount it vertical and modify the "table". I just got mine and haven't used it other than to confirm it works. Looks good for the price. Get a good Bi-Metal blade for it.

I love mine! The first unit shipped had a tracking error(it wouldn't) They sent me a new one hassle-free!! The OEM blade lasted a few days, the Bi-Metal I got at Home Depot has lasted months. I mounted mine vertically there are pics of several mounts in the old threads about this bandsaw. I think I copied
Txcowboy's mount

I have the variable speed one, I just recently killed the blade that came with it. I welded up a frame to mount it on from 1.5" square tubing. I like it so far, I have cut up a pile of steel and some micarta. If you are worried about it holding up you can buy an extended warranty. There is a 20% off coupon for their retail stores out right now. I think it's good till the 17th.

I have one of the variable speed jobs mounted in a tubular steel frame. Chuck the blade that comes with it and buy a good bi metal blade. I have been really happy with mine...

spend the extra $30 (or whatever it is, it's not much more) and get the variable speed....it's a gem.

I'm glad to hear that it get decent reviews.
I was wondering if the variable speed was worth it and it sounds like it is.

Just offhand what kinda blades would you recommend for it ?

I was just looking at these on the HF website. The variable speed model is on sale now for $10 less than the single speed model

Also, look for threads here on BF where people have posted discount coupons for up to 20% off.

I have been using Milwaukee bi metal blades on mine. You can get them at Home Depot and sometimes at HF.
