OK I know those words don't belong together, the only things I get there are gloves and the little brushes for leather glue. Saw the tig there and was wondering if anyone here has one. Moon

I can't speak for the Tig welder, but I had a Mig welder and it was Junk. I found a used stick Lincoln welder at a yard sale for $40 and used that to weld new suspension to my Jeep axle and my brother has a Lincoln Mig welder with gas and used that for some frame repair on my jeep as well. If it was me, I would get a better product in the beginning instead of wasting the $$ spent on the crappy one from HF. Just curious, what are you welding and how often would you be using it?

for most welding you are better off getting the bottom line Lincoln or Miller MIG unit, I have a friend who is a professional welder who has a HF inverter TIG at his house that he uses occaisionally, he says it is OK for what it is but what it is is a cheaply built scratch start DC only unit without much control or power, or arc stabilization, so you really need to know what you are doing to get a good weld with it. I have a Millermatic 140 and wanted a TIG to go with it, I almost bought the HF unit several times, but every time I looked at it I liked it less, so I saved up and got a Miller Diversion 180 to make sure I could do stainless and aluminum, that said most of my welding is still done with the MIG

Thanks guys, that's pretty much the response I was expecting. It won't be used much, just for making damascus, canister, etc. Guess I'll just hold off and do some more looking. Thanks again, Moon.
