I am thinking of getting a harbor freight Micro Mill/Drill. Costs $299. Just for light workgaurds and etc. Any comments on this if anyone has one??? Thanks, Scott

I bought the same one a couple months ago.....all I've used it for is slotting guards with an 1/8" end mill, so I can't give a thorough review, but it works great for this operation....

I don't have that particular mill, but I think either Chris Crawford or Bruce Evans might have?

Anyway, I often say I probably have the largest collection of HF tools in America... Only once have I spent money there I thought was wasted, and that was clearly a fluke - bad part. I always look there for any tools I need and seldom find I need to look further. We're lucky to have a HF store in town, too. (Perhaps Jeanie would not agree. :) )

If I was going to buy a benchtop mill I would probably get the one you're referring to. In fact, I've had my eye on it already so will look forward to your review if you get it.

RE Harbor Freight goodies.

I bought their oscillating spindle sander attachment for the drill press. The first one had a bad gear. They paid the shipping both ways and replaced the whole thing no questions - it took weeks, but nothing out of my pocket.

Also, the thing works really well. At $35 it's one of the handiest gizmo's I have. Inside curves come out real nice.

HF's prices are great and their tools are fine. However, their service SUCKS ! I swear sometimes the people there do not know what they are talking about and don't know how to access info from their computers. I have ordered a couple of times from them and everytime (even with faster shipping at more $ from my pocket) they are always behind. They supposedly have something in stock and are supposed to ship the next day but they have never done so in my cases. If ya need something in a hurry, I don't advise you use them. If you have a lot of time to wait, then they are fine and as I said, their prices are great !

RDT is correct about their service. With Enco it's here yesterday and you get what you ordered. Still the HF prices are the lowest. I have a HF knee mill which I like. In general whatever you can do with a little mill you can do with a big one. So, if you think you might need more juice eventually, get a bigger one.

Just goy mine in.Now I am working on getting all the tooling for it so I can use it.I can't hardly wait.
Indian George does have one of these also,Chris Crawford has the next size bigger.

If you get one make sure you give it a good going over. For the price you can't go wrong. Deal with HF is a pain in the butt. I was fighting with them over a propane cast iron 3 burner stove for 2 months they said they had shipped it, yet I never got it. I finally got it in a week ago.
