WOW Bladite! The majority of those are A-Okay and if you didn't use a DSLR just what did you use?!?!?!?
I most certainly doubt I could get anything nearly that good with my little Sony 3.2 megapixel Cyber Sure Shot.:( :o

i used an obsolete canon s50 point and shoot - good camera, 5mp, manual mode... steady hands, lots of shots, lots of stalking :)

a canon g7 that they sell now is 10mp, has image stabilization (which rocks), and better zoom. around 400 clams - would be my next point and shoot in 5 minutes should i need one.

what i'm after is either the next model after the canon 30d (not released yet) or a d5. mmm.

and thanx!

Nice shots. btw - It's the Canon 30D and 5D - D30 was original consumer camera from Canon - 3mp. Now all the Canons are xD or xxD, Nikons are dxx. Just a small detail I know, but....:D

i don't know what you're talking about ;)

maybe i'm dyslexic too ;)

i hate that canon didn't release anything in MAY and now in theory, i REALLY should wait until AUGUST... i know they'll do a 5D mark II or a 50D with a full frame sensor, or SOMETHING worth going for ;> if i KNEW they weren't, i'd buy now. oof.

also i noted that i missed a really sweet double rebate had i bought back in january, i could've saved say, $800! off a 5D or $400ish on a 30D. feh :>

in the meantime, they do have a lense rebate. i think i'm pretty golden if i buy L glass now ... ;) save $100-200. then wait ;)

I wouldn't buy anything yet. 5D is due for replacement, 1D Mk III will be out soon, 1Ds Mk III should be coming. Meanwhile, I'm happy with my 1D and 30D. The 1D Mk III is the ultimate camera for me. They rebuilt it from the ground up and addressed almost every issue anyone had with it. It's so sweet, that I'm drooling over the white paper for it.

i want to SHOOT dSLR now. learn learn learn !!! i'm going with L glass anyway... was thinking of a fast 50 mm and some decent macro for now, i'll worry about "wide" and "far" later (i have a NICE apochromat flourite field-flattened f/5.4 telescope as well, good for wide and far out there or down here)...

i'm THINKING maybe just score an 400D/XTi body for now to go with the glass. dang it. there's stuff like herons that a bit of improvement over what i have would have benefited mightily :> chomp at bit... even KNOWING for sure that they'd have new bodies in store by say, august 1st is painful. gah :)

so, KNOWING they will, what should i do? i could get a G7, it's better than now... or the 400D is almost the same price. mmm. and not knowing, or not having rumors... you mention white papers? that's the second or third time i've heard that term. urls? what do you know? ;)

so, speaking of glass. thoughts? i'm leaning towards L and IS. USM is just assumed. fast 50 mm seems the way to go for 1. i want to do macro... a variable macro would be nice. the standard kit lense ratio is "okay" but i'll go L there too. my head hurts :)

oh, why the inistance on L glass? YOU probably would know, but mainly the dust/moisture seals (sweet), the better light grasp overall, and it's not limited to EF-S/APS-C? bleah, which means oh yeah, you can use them on 400D to 20/30D to 5D to 1D Mk III :> the idea of that is TOO sweet. wibble. a FASTER better 5DMk II would be nice (also drop the price $1k ;>) or a say "50D" with more pixels, and uh, what? i dunno, APS-H?

squawk!

I'll see your heron, and raise you one. :D

We had a cold front- which meant rough water- which meant poor water visibility- which meant a very hungry heron, after a couple of days.

They have great eyesight, but can't see through cloudy conditions.

Canon 1D Mk III White Papers It's a 4mb PDF file. Read it and save your pennies. If you have to get something now, get the Rebel(10mp) and good glass. I highly recommend the 24-105/4 L IS zoom.

I'd get the 50/1.4 before the 50/1.2 L. I haven't heard anything stunning from the 50/1.2. I sold my 70-200/2.8 L to get the new 70-200/4 IS L and have never been happier. It's sharper and the IS(image stabilization) is a godsend.

I like the disposable cameras at the big box store.

Maybe that's why I post so few pictures.
