can anybody give me their suggestions for the best hard use knife for law enforcment purposes? thanks

...to the Forums.
Are you looking for a fixed blade, or a folder? Do you have a length requirement?
You may want to consider the Pentagon in a fixed blade, or the Pentagon Elite in a Folder...
These are some initial suggestions, there will probably be more...;)
Good Luck!
Rob

I assume that you are looking for a folder? If so, the BEST hard-use SOG is the Tomcat, as that one is built like a TANK!...(I'm pretty sure that I could cut my way out of (or into) a wrecked car with mine if I had to! ).

If it's a fixed-blade, and you need a fairly small one, the Seal Pup would be a great choice. For a mid-sized fixed-blade, the SEAL 2000 is excellent. Also, for quite a bit more $, the Trident is THE BEST of the SOGs, in MY opinion!...(In-fact, I like 'em so much, that I have a PAIR of 'em!).:).

It is a big "secret" (not really), but we offer a 25% discount to all those in Public Safety (law enforcement, EMT, firefighter, military) with ID. That is offered directly from us at 888.SOG.BEST.

Our LEO models Rob was right on the money with the Pentagon knives. The SEAL Pup does good, too. We have a nice handful of others that work really well, as well.

SOG Vision is right in line for a hard use LEO knife, mine got a little to much hard use but hey it still worked, hope to get it back soon.

It's no secret, I love my Vision ...
I guess it depends on personal preference and use...

I dunno...I just took another look at my Tomcat, and I just can't see a more HARD-USE SOG folder than that one...In-fact, it's even more of a HARD-USE folder than my Spyderco Chinook, and I always thought that my Chinook was tough, but this Tomcat is just nuts-tough.:).

He's looking for a fixed blade...it's in his subject line...

Anything from SOG would serve you well...but my suggestion would be to check out the Navy Seals line. The pup is good if you don't want something thats going to weigh you down. To me it doesn't look like anything special but looks are subjective and the performance makes up for any lack of aesthetics.

If you're looking for something with a little more 'horsepower' behind it then you can up one to the regular size Navy Seal.

And if you want more steel still then you can look at the Tigershark.

Any of these are high performance fixed blades IMO and will serve for years to come.

I also just re-read the title of this thread, and skeetro1030 IS looking for a hard-use FIXED-blade. In that case, I'll stick by my earlier suggestion of either the Seal Pup, Seal 2000, or the Trident.:).

Ummmm... I was just giving alternatives... yeah, that's it!!! :p  Depending on intended use, the Pentagon is good, the Tactical Ranger is another cool alternative.
