I believe i will come into some Christmas money today and I was considering buying a knife for "hard use." Something larger than I normally carry that I can use when I need it. I was considering an Adamas possibly a Contego but I'm not sure about the Contego handle.

Both are very stout and should withstand almost any amount of hard-use you would subject to a folding knife (operative words being "folding knife"). If you plan to do extended cutting, the Adamas wins out. Jimping, Finger Guard, and a very filling grip with very few hotspots. I believe the Contego has an edge when it comes to M4, but there are plenty of videos showing people abusing the Adamas (with D2) and being very impressed with it's ability to hold a working edge.

The Adamas is a very reliable hard use folder. It is a tad on the heavy side...but very efficient at small and large jobs. I recommend the auto version due to the spine lock.
