To me, nothing beats a decent priced, quality, dependable, tough as nails knife for the job at hand, outdoorsing in the wild, and emergency/self defense applications. I know what I look for in a knife.

Tell me about your favorite hard working fixed blades, or folders. large/heavy, tough, dependable, and/or willing to bet your life on. I just ordered a new ka bar BK9 to add to my line up of fixed blades:D, and was wondering what all of you other guys/gals out there that use and depend on a quality blade regularily look for. I have been interested in knives since i was a kid. but im relatively new to the feild and wanted to do a bit of research. please, feel free to spill your guts out. tell/show me with lots of pictures! thanks guys:D

For fixed blades I love my ESEE knives. They are tough, reliable, and are done really well. The price point is what seals the deal in most cases in addition the warranty is really good.

For folders, I have to say that I am pleased with Spyderco and Kershaw/ZT. Both companies offer excellent designs, exotic steels, and are built to work. The warranty and value are also a compelling reason for choosing them.
