I intend making a knife. The blade is a little over 6" long, about 1 1/4" wide, and about 3/32" thick.
For hardening the steel I could buy a single burner propane forge from Devil Forge in Lithuania. However, with the additional cost of a gas cylinder plus filling it with propane I will be spending more money than I am comfortable with.
Would a blowtorch with MAPP gas be adequate for hardening the knife? Would I need some firebricks too?
