I've been into knives for many a year and I was looking around for my next buy and it hit me, I've always always used softer steels, primarily AUS-8. It's never been a problem because I can sharpen it fine, but I want to get a harder steel on my next folder to compare. Preferably $~100. Any recommendations?

If you bump up your price range just a bit to around $140 you're in Spyderco Gayle Bradley territory. With cpm-m4 at 62-64 hrc you're not going to find a better performer in terms of production knives.

For a bit less money you could take a look at the delica or endura in zdp-189.

As mentioned, there are a TON of knives available in S30V in your price range as well as a few such as the limited edition kershaw blur in cpm154 (not to be confused with 154cm) .

Blur s30v, blur cpm-154(kershawguy.com) Sog Vulcan vg-10, ZT 0350, para 2 or go big ZT 0200 in 154cm also from kershaw guy. Bump $40-$50 and choices open up huge.
